Pioneering artist support organization Creative Capital is now accepting letters of inquiry for awards in Moving Image (formerly Film/Video) and Visual Arts. Artists can apply online at creative-capital.org/apply before February 28.

Acting as a catalyst for the development of exceptional and imaginative ideas, Creative Capital supports artists whose work is provocative, timely and relevant; who are deeply engaged with their art forms and demonstrate a rigorous commitment to their craft; who are boldly original and push the boundaries of their genre; and who create work that carries the potential to reshape the cultural landscape. Awardees receive up to 50,000 USD in direct support for their project and advisory services valued at more that 40,000 USD.

This year, Creative Capital will fund Moving Image and Visual Arts projects. Moving Image may include animation, experimental film or video, installation, interdisciplinary projects, non-traditional documentary or narrative. Projects may be intended for projection, hand-held devices, the web, television, galleries, etc. Visual Arts may include architecture/design, contemporary crafts, installation, interdisciplinary projects, moving image, painting, photo-based work, public art, sculpture, or works on paper. Projects may be site-specific or intended for display in galleries, on the web, etc.

Creative Capital is one of the only national organizations that offers awards to individual artists through an open application process. The organization expects to receive around 3,000 applications this February and will announce the 46 selected projects in January 2015. In order to be eligible for awards, applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents at least 25 years old, working as artists with at least five years of professional experience. Applicants may not be full-time students.

About Creative Capital
Creative Capital’s pioneering approach—inspired by venture-capital principles—helps artists working in all creative disciplines realize their visions and build sustainable practices. Working in long-term partnerships with artists, Creative Capital’s support system is built on the core principle that time and advisory services are as crucial to artistic success as funding.
