Τη Δευτέρα 16 Μαΐου, εγκαινιάζεται στο Circuits and Currents η έκθεση Τι είναι το άλλο, αποτέλεσμα της συνεργασίας οκτώ καλλιτεχνών που βρέθηκαν στην Αθήνα και εργάστηκαν μαζί για δέκα ημέρες στο πλαίσιο ενός κυπριακού δι-κοινοτικού εγχειρήματος. Η έκθεση διαρθρώθηκε in situ μέσα από ένα workshop με την θεατρική ομάδα Blitz, με τη συμμετοχή φοιτητών της Ανωτάτης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνώνκαι τη συμβολή της Κύπριας ηθοποιού Oya Akin. Η αφηγηματική και επιτελεστική εργασία που πραγματοποίησαν οι καλλιτέχνες και η επιμελήτρια μαζί τους, δομήθηκε σύμφωνα με τους όρους και τις πρακτικές του devised theatre. Η σκηνική παρουσία, ο ρυθμός, η διαπραγμάτευση του χώρου, η αφηγηματικότητα, είναι στοιχεία που διερευνήθηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια αυτής της κοινής εργασίας, επιδρώντας τελικά στη διευθέτηση της έκθεσης.
Η έννοια της διαφοράς και η κατασκευή του νοήματος μέσα από τις αλλεπάλληλες διαδοχές της διάκρισης, τελούν ως θεωρητικό πλαίσιο αναφοράς για την έκθεση και ορίζουν ένα οριακό τοπολογικό πεδίο: έναν πτυχωμένο χώρο διάστικτο από υλικά και προθέσεις. Το αντικείμενο της δραματουργίας λειτουργεί εδώ ως καταστατική πράξη που συρράπτει την αφήγηση και ενορχηστρώνει το χωροχρονικό πρωτόκολλο των υλικών και των νοημάτων, θέτοντας τις παραμέτρους για την ανάδυση της σκηνής της έκθεσης.

Το πρόγραμμα φιλοξενίας και η έκθεση/workshop διεξάγονται στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος που χρηματοδοτεί η ΕΕ, Αντιπαράθεση μέσω της τέχνης: Η σύγχρονη τέχνη ως εργαλείο για τη συμφιλίωση στην Κύπρο, 2014-2017.

What is the otheropens on Monday May 16th at Circuits and Currents as the outcome of a collaboration among eight artists having worked together in Athens under the framework of a Cypriot bi-communal initiative for a period of ten days. The resulting exhibition has been articulated in-situ through a workshop with Blitz theatre group, the participation of students of the Athens School of Fine Arts, and the contribution of Cypriot actor Oya Akin. The narrative and performative workings realised by the artists and the curator, were structured through devised theatre techniques and terms. Narrativity, negotiation of space, rhythm, stage presence, have been explored during this collaborative work, ultimately affecting the arrangement of the exhibition.
The concept of difference and the construction of meaning through the consecutive succession of distinction, operate as the theoretical reference for the exhibition and define a liminal topological field; an enfolded space scattered with materials and intentions. The object of dramaturgy functions here as a constitutional act by stitching the narrative and orchestrating the spatiotemporal protocol of materials and meanings, setting the parameters for the emergence of the scene of the exhibition as a scene of exposure.
