Call for Entries - Extended to 31 March 2017

 

The Young Masters Art Prize is an established, international Prize for artists of any age, working in any medium, whose work responds to the art of the past. 

 

Work by all shortlisted artists will be exhibited in June 2017 at Gallery 8 in central London.

 

YOUNG MASTERS ART PRIZE

 

Established in 2009, and now in its fourth edition, the Young Masters Art Prize celebrates contemporary artists who reimagine the art of the past for the future.

 

Prizes include:

·  A Winner’s Prize of £2,000

·  Two Highly Commended Awards of £500, courtesy the Artists’ Collecting Society (ACS)

·  A new, Be Smart About Art Award of mentoring and professional development, worth £500

Judges include:

·  Godfrey Barker (art historian and journalist)

·  Charles Saumarez Smith (Chief Executive, Royal Academy of Arts)

·  Melanie Gerlis (art market columnist, Financial Times and editor at large, The Art Newspaper)

·  Jean Wainwright (Professor of Contemporary Art and Photography, University of the Creative Arts)

·  Hannah Rothschild (writer, filmmaker, Chair of the National Gallery)

·  Daisy McMullan (curator)

YOUNG MASTERS MAYLIS GRAND CERAMICS PRIZE

 

Recognising contemporary artists who respond to the heritage of ceramic craft.

 

Prizes, generously given by James and Maylis Grand, include:

·  A Winner’s Prize of £1,500

·  A Highly Commended Award of £500

 

Judges include:

·  Daniella Wells (Crafts Council)

·  Janice Blackburn (Curator of Contemporary Arts and Crafts, Sotheby’s)

·  Maylis Grand (collector and patron)

·  Preston Fitzgerald (curator and collector)
